District dues for 2010 should be sent to Mike Ruleman, 2107 W. Beverley St. Staunton VA 24401, payable to 'Woodrow Wilson District'. Dues are $1.00 per active member, based on the club's January 1st, 2010 membership roll.

Club Membership Night

If your club has a membership night, the District will give your club $50 towards the expenses of your event. Call District Treasurer Mike Ruleman at 540-885-2215 for your club's check or ask any member of the cabinet. This money is available once every year.

Clubs donates to the Foundation in 2004

In the fiscal year Oct 1, 2003 to September 30, 2004, Woodrow Wilson District clubs donated $6,592 to the Ruritan National Foundation. Donations to the Educational Endowment totaled $5,365, to Operation We Care $1,027 and to the D-Day Memorial, $200. Please promote the Foundation in your club.

  • The Foundation currently has the following funds: The Education Endowment Fund with a balance of $2,500,000. the Operation We Care Fund (OWC) with a balance of $40,500, and the D-Day Memorial Foundation Fund with a balance of $5,000.
  • The Double Your Dollar program is one of the most popular programs of the Foundation. A club sends in $300 this year and selects a student to receive a $600 grant for the next school year. The coupon will be mailed to the club treasurer. The treasurer needs to mail the coupon and a check for $300 as quickly as possible to the National Office. In 2004, these 400 grants and 50 alternates were taken in about ten days. In order to fund an additional 100 Double Your Dollar grants, the Foundation needs to raise an additional $375,000 in the endowment fund.
  • An individual, a club, or a district may establish a permanent fund by giving $1,000 to the Foundation. This can be done over a period of time. It can be started with as little as $1. Once the fund reaches the $1,000 level, it is a permanent fund and will be maintained on the books of the Foundation.
  • Donations to the National Foundation are tax deductible because the Foundation is a 501-c-3 organization. Donations can be made to honor individuals, in memory of individuals, and to establish permanent funds for clubs or individuals. A great way to honor an individual is to donate $500 to the Foundation and make them a Tom Downing Fellow. The Tom Downing Fellow is also used for the educational section of the Foundation.
  • The Foundation Fellowship Weekend will be held in September 2005 in Harrisonburg VA. Many exciting activities are being planned. There will be a dinner on the Friday evening, some free time on Saturday, a delicious dinner for Saturday evening and then breakfast and a worship service on Sunday morning. Tours are currently being planned and there will also be a golf tournament. The weekend is being designed for a great deal of fellowship and you can plan to do as much or as little as you wish. There will be more details in the Spring and Summer Ruritan Magazines.

    Ruritan Foundation Scholarship Link Added

    Click here for the downloadable form for the Foundation scholarship. The completed application is due back at National by April 1st. These are outright grants and do NOT have to be repaid. The Double Your Dollar grant coupons will be mailed to club treasurers in June. These are on a first come-first served basis and are usually all awarded within 2 weeks. If you wish to participate this year, please have your club authorize your treasurer to return the coupon and check for $300 as soon as he or she receives it.

    Johnathan Tanksley Memorial Scholarship Fund

    In November 2003, the District Cabinet donated $100 to Ruritan National Foundation to start the Johnathan Tanksley Memorial Scholarship Fund. In order for the fund to become a permanent fund donations have to be received totaling $1,000. Please consider donating to this fund in honor of Johnathan. Clubs or individuals can donate by sending their check directly to Ruritan National (Ruritan National, Inc. P O Box 487, Dublin VA 24084) and earmarking the check for the Johnathan Tanksley Memorial Scholarship Fund.
